Brielle’s fortifications 1713-2013

The Lord of Voorne granted Brielle a charter in 1330. Eight years later, in 1338, Brille was given the right to fortify the town with walls and defences. Documents that have been passed down show that in 1342 there was a moat around Brielle, and that there was a town wall in 1350.
